On September 19, 2024, Bauhaus Earth had the honour of welcoming a distinguished group of high-ranking officials from the United States, all leaders in urban development, governance, and sustainability.

The delegation included (deputy) mayors, city planners, directors of key city departments, and the Minister for Communication and Culture at the German Embassy in Washington. These guests came from a variety of states, including North Carolina, Michigan, Texas, Colorado, Illinois, and more, reflecting a cross-section of influential urban decision-makers.

The visit was organised on the initiative and with the support of the German Federal Foreign Office under the theme “The Importance of Urbanisation in Transatlantic Relations: Common Challenges and Solutions for Cities and Municipalities”, with facilitative support from the Goethe Institute. The tour is a follow-up to the German-American Mayors’ Conference held in New York earlier this year.

The guests were introduced to Bauhaus Earth’s research into regenerative building practices and climate-resilient infrastructure, and were given a guided tour of the Bauhaus Earth Lab in Berlin-Marienpark. The tour sparked engaging discussions about urban challenges shared by cities on both sides of the Atlantic.

This visit not only provided an opportunity to exchange ideas but also served to strengthen transatlantic relations at a crucial time for urban policymakers. We need more collaboration on global urban issues.

Bauhaus Earth is proud to contribute to these important conversations and help shape more resilient and liveable cities. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to this distinguished delegation for their visit, thoughtful discussions, and commitment to fostering a collaborative approach to urban development!
