Purpose
The New European Bauhaus Academy (NEBA) engages students and educators in construction, engineering, architecture, and planning to develop skills for regenerative, nature-based building across the construction sector.
The urgency of the climate crisis necessitates accelerating the transfer and adoption of knowledge and capabilities related to climate change mitigation among workers, businesses, policymakers, and the public. The shortage of skilled workers and educated professionals is a significant bottleneck in rethinking the built environment and transforming the construction ecosystem into a regenerative model.
About NEBA
The New European Bauhaus Academy, a flagship initiative of the European Commission focused on skills for sustainable construction, aims to accelerate the upskilling and reskilling of the current and future workforce. NEBA's goal is to facilitate the transition to a resilient and regenerative domestic construction sector. By advancing tools and capacities in the construction ecosystem, the Academy aims to achieve carbon-neutrality and foster a beautiful, sustainable, and inclusive transformation of the built environment.
Four centres across Europe consolidate regional expertise and enhance local access to education in the fields of sustainability and the circular economy. As a partner in the consortium, Bauhaus Earth is working with TU Berlin, the Eberswalde University of Applied Sciences for Sustainable Development, and various institutes and chambers to establish a NEBA centre in Berlin-Brandenburg. From 2025 onward, this centre will offer German- and English-language training opportunities through compact courses and other formats for continuing education.
