Experimental Fellowship at Bauhaus Earth

Florian Nagler trained as a carpenter and studied architecture at the University of Kaiserslautern. He established his own architectural office (Florian Nagler Architekten) in 1996, and since 2001 has been running the office with Barbara Nagler. He is a founding member of the Bundesstiftung Baukultur. Since 2010, Florian Nagler has been a Professor at the Chair of Architectural Design and Construction at TU Munich, as well as a member of the Academy of the Arts, Berlin – Architecture section and the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts.

Anna Ramos is an Architect, professor, international lecturer and director of Fundació Mies van der Rohe. She studied architecture at ETSAB-UPC and TU Delft and holds a Diploma of Advanced Studies – doctoral programme in Architectural Building. Before assuming the current position as director of the foundation in 2016, she ran her studio in Barcelona for 16 years, developing renovation and new housing projects, as well as public, cultural and service facilities. She has been an Associate Professor at Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura de Barcelona since 2003.

Christiane Sauer studied architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and at the Berlin University of the Arts. She is co-founder of online platform Architonic and worked at OMA / Rotterdam and FACE Design NYC. In 2001 she founded the office Formade and in 2009, co-founded Lüling Sauer Architects. Since 2013, she has been a professor of materials and design in a spatial context at the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin in the textile and surface design department. Christiane Sauer is a Principal Investigator and board member in the Cluster of Excellence “Matters of Activity”, as well as a member of the BDA and the Berlin Chamber of Architects.

Karen Stein is an architectural advisor and executive director of the George Nelson Foundation. A graduate of Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in architecture, she was awarded a Loeb Fellowship in Environmental Studies by Harvard University. She was the editorial director of Phaidon Press from 1998 to 2007 and, prior to that, senior managing editor of Architectural Record. She has also been a member of the faculty of the Design Criticism program at the School of Visual Arts in New York, and served on the jury of The Pritzker Architecture Prize from 2003 through 2012. Currently, she is a member of the board of directors of The Architectural League of New York and The Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas.

Jan de Vylder graduated in Architecture from Sint-Lucas University in Ghent. He has been working independently since 2000, first sharing the studio with Trice Hofkens, then with Inge Vinck and Jo Taillieu, with whom in 2010 he founded the studio “Architecten de Vylder Vinck Taillieu” operating until 2019. In 2019, he founded together with Inge Vink the studio “Architecten Jan de Vylder Inge Vink”. Jan De Vylder has co-curated the Belgian Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia in 2016 and realized several works in Belgium and abroad. He has been a professor at Sint-Lucas School for Architecture in Ghent and Brussels, at TU Delft, at EPFL Lausanne, and at Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio. Since 2017 he has been teaching at ETH Zurich.

Jan Wurm is a Consultant at Arup, where he works with a number of public and private sector clients across Europe, specializing in sustainable building design and biomaterials. Drawing on his expertise in construction systems and materials, Jan consults clients on the sustainable transformation of industrial processes, developing novel products and services to shape the future of the built environment. He is an Associate Professor at KU Leuven in the area of Regenerative Design and at its ‘The Bio Fab & Construction Lab’, as well as a lecturer at the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin and a Visiting Professor at CIEE Berlin (Council on International Educational Exchange).
